My distaste for Chevy is pretty well documented here, but it’s hard to beat the price I paid. 5.3L V8, heated, power, memory seats, power pedals, this weird radio memory thing, sunroof, leather, Z71, all that stuff. One small rust spot, 181k. $1300.

Now Mad Max the shit out of it

$1300!!!! Watch your back for the cops, because you just stole that thing! Nice buy!

I would have even bought that for $1300. It would be on CL now though.

Permit me to start this thing I have here called a “countdown timer”. I need to make sure it’s set right, though - have you noticed any intermittentness in your turn signal stalk, yet?

Do I have a what in my who?

The joys of being a salesperson, I can look up what we paid for it. We paid $1000, and I walked up to my boss, put $1300 on his desk and told him he could sell it to me or keep it.

Gonna paint the lower part of it black and change the 4x4 badges, that’s pretty much it. It’s just to tow the drift car.
![]() 09/23/2015 at 09:06 |

Wow, that’s a smokin deal. Even with those ugly ass taillights.

The turn signal stalks on these, with all the light controls and wiper controls and so on... pretty reliably quit working and break down in such a way that you have to replace the whole little switching module for them. Which requires pulling the steering wheel. Oh yeah, and the window motors on these die like flies.

My driver’s window is slow AF.

Ugh, I knowwwww. Who in their right mind?
![]() 09/23/2015 at 09:08 |

Haha considered it. It’s to tow that yellow car to the track though.

For those keeping track at home that’s:
2 personal cars purchased this month and
1 personal car sold.

Pretty good for a month! I thought buying 3 and selling 3 in 7 months was a lot! Keep it up

replace that now before winter when it dies and is stuck down.
Great buy overall, in my opinion, just saying you might want to get that handled before it sucks.

My mother has the same gen Silverado, can confirm on those damn window motors. Same engineering team as the ignitions I imagine.

if you don’t like Chevs , just change the grille to GMC.

It must be nice to live in a state where the insurance doesn’t eat you alive. In Louisiana, my 21 year old truck as a third vehicle with liability only and two drivers in the house with no tickets or accidents still costs over $1,200 a year. At these rates, it doesn’t make sense to keep a vehicle that isn’t driven every day. Anyone want to buy a thoroughly used truck with new tires?

This is one of the reasons I would want to work at a dealership.
This is one of the reasons my wife won’t let me work at a dealership.

Actually the first time I’ve taken advantage of it. I also bought a new Focus ST for $3k off and 0% for 72 mos.

I had an ‘02 Suburban with the 5.3L it was a supprisingly good rig. Due to it’s mass it towed really well, just didn’t like towing really heavy things over mountain passes because the 5.3 is a bit under powered for that.

raise the nissan, make it a rally car, and slam the chevy. #plottwist

Ive had 4 pickups in this generation (gmt800) between 120,000 miles & 250,000! 2 w/ 5.3’s 1 w/ a 6.0 & my current Duramax & ive never had the “blinker issue” he is talking about... but window motors... yeah good thing they are cheap! (& it’s always the damn drivers side that goes out!)
Also on 5.3s around this mileage you will start to here a lifter tick... Don’t worry, that’s normal.
Oh & if you gas gauge doesnt work it’s the sender not the cluster. On Pickups it’s super easy to take the bed off & change it... a SUV wouldnt be fun because the tank sucks to drop.
Would you believe me if I said I really love these things?? Most comfortable truck ive been in & they have all been super reliable even @ 200K + miles

My gas gauge actually works! Tach and oil press ure don’t though.

When I worked at a dealership we had a Mazda Navajo that we paid 300 bucks for. I wanted it so bad for a winter beater, and maybe an offroader project. I offered the owner/”general manager” 500 bucks for it... Just to find out the only reason they bought the car at all was the owner looking for a hunting rig he could just leave at his cabin.

just get some VHT clear red and paint em.
